Electrical and/or Computer Engineering Degree Required
PURPOSE OF THE POSITION:
To track the power system reliability, identify areas of improvement, and lead teams to implement changes if needed. Design and maintain communication systems used to operate the electrical system, including mobile radio, SCADA, Load Management, relaying and fiber optic facilities and optimize the delivery of system operations. Work with fiber optic installers/contractors on installing new services. Building and setting up phone services for businesses. Maintaining and checking phone directory listings and other phone related databases.
EDUCATION
Four years of college with a degree in Electrical and/or Computer Engineering required.
EXPERIENCE
Thorough knowledge of engineering techniques and/or experience in writing programs and ESRI based mapping software, Auto CAD, phone provisioning and Citrix. Experience with Java, Operation Systems – Linux/Unix/Windows 95/98/NT/2000/XP, Software Packages – Adobe.
JOB OVERVIEW:
• Perform all work according to BTES safety procedures and standards.
• Ensure all mapping projects for BTES systems are completed accurately and timely.
• Update and maintain all BTES AutoCAD files.
• Update and maintain all BTES ESRI electric and fiber optic facilities mapping in ESRI based mapping system and data base.
• Updating and maintaining Unix based SCADA system schematics and operations related to substation remote status and control.
• Phone & Fiber System
a. Design, update and maintain
b. Building and provisioning all business phone installs in
BTES’ phone switch.
c. Advise and assist installers and contractors on
day-to-day phone install issues.
d. Advise and assist BTES helpdesk and Customer
service on phone system issues.
e. Maintain and update all phone related databases for
Caller ID, Phone Directory, Etc
f. Trouble shoot (work with Help Desk and Draftsman)
any phone and fiber related issues
• Write programs for various departments as related to the reliability
and communication systems used with daily BTES operations.
• Collaborate and advise other engineers on all new fiber designs.
• Update and maintain company PC’s with Symantec Ghost.
• Update and maintain BTES outage monitoring systems including
Porche, Carina and ONT systems.
