The easiest protection is to prevent the surges from getting
into your home. BTES offers a Surge Protection Program to do
just that.
Service Entrance Protection Program
A BTES-owned Service Entry Device can be installed
for $5.95 per month and is charged to your electric bill.
The installation is free. This device stops power surges
before they reach your electronics and/or your appliances. This
device acts as an insurance policy providing coverage for
major appliances and HVAC units up to $1,000 per appliance
and a maximum of $10,000 per event. Major appliances
would include washer, dryer, refrigerator, freezer, dishwasher,
stove and garbage disposal.
Individual Protection Devices for Electronics
Additional protection devices may be purchased
to protect TV, VCR, DVD, stereo, computer, satellite, answering
machine, telephone, cable TV, microwave and garage door openers.
If you use the plug-in individual units in conjunction with
the Service Entry Device above, additional insurance coverage
is available.
You may purchase a plug-in starter kit for $85.
The kit contains:
One eight-receptacle plug strip with cable protection unit
($49.95)
One three-receptacle plug strip ($19.95)
One single-outlet unit ($9.95)
One single-outlet unit with telephone protection ($11.95)
Receptacle circuit tester
Each item may be purchased individually, and the cost may
be added to your electric bill.
Other starter kits are available to meet specific customer
needs.
